SUMMARY:Comedy Crate Festival 2026 - Part One
DESCRIPTION:3 Venues – The Charles Bradlaugh\, The Black Prince and The Lamplighter\n\n\n\n\n\n15 acts in total across the day. You’ll get to see a maximum of 5 shows\, choosing between the 15 acts. It will be wristband entry. Collection of wristbands will be on the day\, giving you access to all venues. All the shows will be Edinburgh Previews or Work in Progress shows. These are great opportunities to see acts try out some new stuff in preparation for their Edinburgh runs and upcoming tour shows. Each show will be roughly 1 hour long. There will also be half hour intervals between each show\, with a 1 hour interval after the 2nd show to allow for a decent food break. \n \nRhys James: Chop Logic\nRhys made a discovery that could fix everything. It’s been staring him in the face this whole time\, in a mirror held behind his head. If he can somehow ignore his own problems\, he might just be able to solve yours. A fast\, forensic hour of big ideas and gag-dense overthinking from one of Britain’s sharpest stand-ups. Star of Mock the Week\, also seen furrowing his brow on QI and Live At The Apollo. ‘Scintillating stand-up’ **** (Times). \n \nPaul Foot: The Future\nHello and OMG. Everything’s wrong in the world. When did optimism end? Remember years ago when people were excited for the future\, with predictions of people flying around on jet packs\, friendly robots that wheeled themselves round the kitchen making tea\, and solar powered bidets? Well\, we don’t have fun visions for the future like that anymore\, do we? \nIn this show\, which\, much like human civilisation\, is a Work-in-Progress\, Paul tries to find a way forward for humanity that isn’t environmental collapse\, war and pointless arguments. His medium is stand-up comedy\, his allotted time is 58 minutes to one hour\, his message is hope (hopefully). \n\nChortle Awards 2024 Best Show Nominee\n(ISH) Edinburgh Comedy Awards 2023 Best Show Winner\nNext Up Biggest Award in Comedy 2023 Nominee\n\n \nLucy Porter: Let Yourself Go\nFestival favourite Lucy returns with a brand new work in progress show about the power of letting yourself go – in every sense. Whether that means embracing your wrinkles and love handles whilst living in a slanket\, or having a couple of babychams and dancing like nobody’s watching (and if you’re a middle-aged woman\, they’re probably not). It’s also about letting go of the person you’ve always thought you are\, and using your midlife crisis to pursue new goals and reinvent yourself. \n \nStuart Goldsmith: Canary\nStuart was as scared about the climate crisis as you are. But he did the reading\, and now he’s terrified. Come and watch him do something about it. In his most honest\, hilarious\, and hopeful hour yet\, Stuart Goldsmith (Live At The Apollo\, Netflix is a Joke\, Conan) applies his ‘expert stand-up’ (Sunday Times) to the apparent collapse of absolutely everything. ‘The funny side of climate change… No\, really!’ (Times). ***** \n \nGlenn Moore: Work In Progress\nThe best showcase of pure joke-writing skill on the Fringe” (Guardian). Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Glenn Moore has written too many jokes again. As seen on Live At The Apollo\, Have I Got News For You\, Mock The Week\, Cats Does Countdown. As heard on The Dave Berry Breakfast Show on Absolute Radio\, The News Quiz\, Just A Minute\, and his own Radio 4 series Glenn Moore’s Almanac. \n“An absolutely brilliantly-crafted joy from start to finish”  Mail On Sunday (5 stars) \n \nEd Night: We’ll Be Alright\, Darling\nUnderrated stand-up and asthmatic wretch Ed Night lumbers back to the Fringe with yet another new show. Prepare to have your ribs tickled to the max with material about all sorts of different topics and subjects. 2025 Edinburgh Comedy Awards Best Show nominee (it’s not a science). ‘A singular talent who very much deserves a place on everyone’s must-see list’ (Skinny). ‘This is comedy as poetry… so good it seems effortless’ (Standard). \n \nRob Kemp: Beatlesjuice\nCult comedy horror movie\, Beetlejuice\, retold through the songs of not-even-remotely cult band\, The Beatles. A multimedia mashup tribute to the Fab Four and the Ghost with the Most by the award-winning creator of The Elvis Dead. So clap your hands or rattle your jewellery\, cos it’s showtime! \n \nSara Barron: SLOP\nSara has planned a series of high kicks\, insults for your average-looking granny\, and thoughts on Jeffrey Dahmer’s Netflix special. Then – separate but adjacent – some thoughts on Gary Barlow. \nSara Barron is one of the fastest-rising comedians of her generation. Since her 2018 debut at the Edinburgh Fringe\, she’s starred on shows including Live at the Apollo (BBC)\, Would I Lie to You? (BBC) and Frankie Boyle’s New World Order (BBC). \n \nRoss Smith: Told You So\nBuilding my next show so here’s some work in progress shows. Watch as I give birth\, suckle\, raise and nurture new jokes and send them off into the world trying not to cry. Come along- tell your friends\, tell your enemies. As seen on Apple TV’s Slow Horses and Karl Pilkingston’s Sick Of It. \n \nSooz Kempner: Imposter\nAward-winning comedian Sooz Kempner (Doom in Doctor Who’s Doom’s Day\, The Now Show) has always felt a little like an imposter. Except in one area: singing! She could always rely on THAT. But when Sooz’s voice suddenly stopped working the way it always had before\, she had to face her imposter syndrome head-on and find out once and for all: is it imposter syndrome\, or is she truly an imposter? A stand-up show about finding your voice\, silencing trolls and Princess Diana. \n \nMad Ron Presents Identity Theft – The Gameshow\nExpect the absurd as Uxbridge’s third hardest man and multi award-winning Mad Ron presents a hilariously surreal game show\, where he tries to guide his comedy apprentice as a glamorous game show host. ‘Keeps the onslaught of jokes coming\, contributing to the rowdily fun atmosphere’ (Steve Bennett\, Chortle.co.uk). ‘The funniest most inventive nut bag show I think I’ve ever seen I love it love it love it!’ (Terry Alderton) \n \nAndy Field: Giddy Up\nA new hour of stand up comedy from Chortle’s Student Comedian of the Year (11 years ago). As an ambitious young stand-up\, a Pleasance Fringe run felt like the start of something great\, but all these years on\, missed opportunities feel like they outnumber the successes\, and a question hangs in the air\, stubbornly growing with each passing birthday\, ‘have I wasted my life?’ So he’s back to decide\, in the same room as before. Only this time\, instead of a kooky young upstart\, he’s a middle-aged eccentric man. \n \nFiona Allen: White Lies\nAfter a sellout debut Edinburgh 2023 show\, Fiona Allen star of Smack The Pony returns with her new show White Lies. Fiona needs a perfect lie to avoid her pet hate of social gatherings. Running out of time and patience she encounters every obstacle a day can throw at her. It all threatens to derail her quest to find the perfect lie. She must confront her worst fear: her neighbours party. It’s a fate worse than death and the clock is ticking. She’s going to have to war-game it. Honestly. ‘Punchlines delivered with cutting execution’ (Scotsman). \n \nDarren Harriott: Activated\nNew house\, new life\, new outlook?…dunno about that\, Double Edinburgh award nominee Darren Harriott’s had a brand new show. It’s all about coming to terms with certain things in life… death\, dads\, and…. dancing? Yeah. \nAs seen on Live at the Apollo (BBC)\, Would I Lie To You (BBC)\, Dancing on Ice (ITV)\, Love Island: Aftersun (ITV2)\, Bake Off: Extra Slice (C4) as well BBC’s Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel\, Richard Osman’s House Of Games\, and The Apprentice You’re Fired. Twice nominated at the Edinburgh Fringe for Best Show\, as well performing at the Melbourne Comedy Festival\, in 2023 he was named “Pick of the Fringe”. Darren presents his own BBC Radio show from his home city of Birmingham. \n \nCatherine Bohart: Work In Progress\nCatherine Bohart – as seen on Live at the Apollo\, QI and LOL Ireland is back with a new show. Well\, the beginnings of a new show. Well\, she’s certainly thinking about beginning a new show. Certainly she’s certain she should be. Come watch this Edinburgh Comedy Award Nominee humble herself before you while she tries new jokes as you give her real time feedback. \nVenues:\nThe Charles Bradlaugh – 1 Earl St\, Northampton NN1 3AU \nThe Black Prince – 15 Abington Square\, Northampton NN1 4AE \nThe Lamplighter (Saturday only) – 66 Overstone Rd\, Northampton NN1 3JS \nPlease note\, all venues have a limited capacity\, if there is an act you really want to see\, please get to that venue in plenty of time. \n*Line ups are always subject to change for reasons out of our control. We always try to book the best acts around the country\, however with that comes the risk of last minute cancellations due to TV work\, corporate events etc. Comics are also human\, so ill health also plays its part.
