SUMMARY:VISUALISE at 78
DESCRIPTION:Contemporary Stitched Textiles \nThe Bassett-Lowke Rooms \n\n\nSat 8 Mar 2025 – Sun 25 May 2025 \n\n\n\nAn exhibition of Contemporary Stitched Art Textiles \nWe are delighted to be hosting this new exhibition of textiles and mixed media work which has been created by the Visualise textile group. Visualise was formed several years ago\, by like-minded artists who enjoy creating diverse work with stitch as the common thread. \nThe exhibition will also feature work by internationally known textile artist and Embroiderers Guild member Nigel Cheney who is the current mentor to Visualise. \nOn display is a diverse array of abstract\, realistic and figurative art using a wide variety of media: paper\, fabric (new\, distressed and recycled) and found objects which are hand and machine stitched\, or felted to create art inspired by both the natural world and the built environment. \nThe exhibition includes textile art inspired by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and 78 Derngate itself\, with framed and small items for sale. \nCombining a look round the iconic Charles Rennie Mackintosh House before visiting the exhibition\, gardens and shop\, followed by partaking of some drink or food in The Dining Room is the perfect way to spend a glorious few hours in Northampton town. \nThere will be some ‘Meet the Artists’ days during the exhibition\, details as yet to be announced. \nThe members meet regularly in Welford\, Northamptonshire\, with the aim of promoting creativity through rigorous discipline\, underpinned by an interest in the history of textiles worldwide. \nOpening on Saturday 8th March until Sunday 25th May 2025\, closed Mondays\n10am- 4.30 pm – free admission to galleries\, shop and cafe. \nhttps://www.visualise.online/

SUMMARY:Nathan Carter
DESCRIPTION:He has outsold the likes of Beyonce in Ireland\, performed for the Pope\, sold out venues across the world; and is one of the most prolific touring artists in the UK. Now\, as he releases his new album ‘Music Man’\, Ireland’s top entertainer Nathan Carter has announced a brand new UK tour. \nBorn in Liverpool to Irish parents from County Down\, Nathan Carter has released 13 studio albums and 6 live albums\, with a sound that traverses pop\, Irish folk\, country music and timeless ballads. \nWith tracks such as Wagon Wheel and I Wanna Dance becoming huge hits\, he is one of Ireland’s biggest artists\, who has outsold One Direction\, Pharrell Williams and Michael Bublé. He also became the first Irish country act to reach number 1 in the Irish charts in 2013 after Garth Brooks\, six years before. \nHis new album Music Man features 11 tracks including the hugely successful single Dance With Everybody and the new song Dear Elizabeth. \nOn the album\, Nathan says: \n‘For as long as I can remember\, my life has revolved around music. It’s a language I’ve always understood\, which started out as a hobby and has grown into a career which I am so privileged to enjoy every day. Thanks to music\, I get to wake up each morning to do something that I love and share it with all of you. \nIt’s a complete love\, a total obsession and has literally dictated the course of my life. I am proud to be a ‘music man’ and think it’s a really fitting title for this album. It certainly sums me up! \nOn the ‘Music Man’ album\, you’ll find new music I’ve really enjoyed making and I hope that comes across as you listen. With the help of some amazingly talented artists\, producers and songwriters\, we’ve created something which I hope you will enjoy and will keep your love of music alive too.’ \nGrowing up in a house where Country and Western music filled the air\, Nathan was exposed to the classic songs of Johnny Cash\, Don Williams and Dolly Parton which firmly rooted themselves in his musical DNA. \nFrom the tender age of 4 years old\, not only learning to play guitar\, piano and accordion\, which plays a vital part in his live show\, Nathan quickly became head chorister in the Liverpool Boys choir where he toured the world… and even performed in front of the Pope in Rome. \nYears later\, with an astounding career of achievements as he became Ireland’s number 1 entertainer\, he would repeat this feat as a star in an incredible full circle moment in 2018\, when he performed for the Pope on his historic visit to Ireland at Dublin’s Croke Park stadium.
