DESCRIPTION:‘Spooktacular’ new augmented reality trail coming to Northampton town centre from Friday 20th October – Friday 3rd November.  \nThe free interactive trail\, via the LoyalFree smartphone app\, tells the story of the forgetful witch Wanda and her beloved cat Wicca. Wicca is missing and to find her\, Wanda must create a potion – but Wanda’s potion cupboard is bare. \nThe digital app invites participants to move around the trail\, checking in at each location to reveal and collect the potion ingredients. As participants follow the trail\, scanning the QR codes at each spooky location\, they will be entered into a prize draw to win a prize. The more QR codes scanned\, the more chance you have of winning. \nThe trail brings the story to life with a mixture of video and augmented reality. Participants can expect to see floating potion ingredients appear magically in front of them when using their smartphone camera. \nTo take part in the trail simply download the LoyalFree app for free and head to the trails section for more information. DESCRIPTION:As part of Northampton’s Black History Month programming\, NN Contemporary Art And the Northamptonshire Black History Association present a thought-provoking evening in conversation with acclaimed writer and academic Kojo Koram\, critic and artist/filmmaker Morgan Quaintance\, and artist and educator Shepherd Manyika. \nTaking place at Northampton Filmhouse on 27th October\, with support from The Royal & Derngate\, the evening will explore the intersection of contemporary political strategies and aesthetic practices\, featuring an interactive screening\, readings\, and discussions around decolonization in contemporary culture. Proposing the Black Archives as a tool for contemporary activist practice\, through diverse perspectives\, the event will delve into evolving anti-colonial discourse by examining different approaches to filmmaking and personal narrative as material to engage with structures of power and class. \nThe event aims to be a platform for open dialogue and exchange\, meshing traditional socio-political and cultural categories. DESCRIPTION:Allison Neale/Colin Oxley Quartet Tribute to Paul Desmond and Jim Hall \nAmerican born altoist Allison Neale‘s beautifully crafted lines evoke the spirit of Paul Desmond and Art Pepper with whom she has a particular affinity. \nAs a strong advocate of the melodic West Coast style she has performed alongside leading international artists such as Adelaide Hall and Bud Shank\, US tenorist Scott Hamilton and more recently in collaboration with New York guitarist Peter Bernstein who appears on her critically acclaimed new CD Quietly There. \nFor this special project\, altoist Allison Neale and guitarist Colin Oxley recreate the magical pairing of Paul Desmond\, best known for his long standing association with Dave Brubeck\, and Jim Hall\, guitarist with Sonny Rollins. Drawing from these influences\, they explore their own unique musical partnership\, while staying true to the nature of the original recordings\, beautiful in their simplicity and elegance.
