SUMMARY:Heritage Open Days Tour
DESCRIPTION:Heritage Open Days Tour\n\nWill be held on Saturday 13th September & Wednesday 17th September 2025\nFirst tour at 10:00 am\, last tour at 3:00 pm\n\nThis is a free event \n\nThe Old Savoy and The  Deco Theatre are now one of Northampton’s premier venues available for hire for theatrical productions\, conferences\, meetings\, wedding receptions\, parties and other social or corporate events\, and although it certainly didn’t start that way when it was first built\, it has always been a home of family entertainment.\n\nThe building first opened on Saturday 2 May 1936 in a blaze of publicity as “the Savoy”\, described as “Northampton’s only super Cinema” and reported to be “the last word in comfort”. It was part of the ABC group\, designed by their prolific house architect WR Glen and built in under nine months on the site of the original Technical College. It was constructed in the International Modernistic style and is arguably the best remaining example of Glen’s work\, with all the main features still in place and sympathetically renovated.\n\nThe Savoy was very popular and originally held almost 2000 people in the 696 seat circle and 1200 seat stalls. It was designed both as a cinema and theatre complete with orchestra pit. It hosted shows and concerts as well as films.\n\nIn the 1950s it was renamed the ‘ABC’ in line with the group’s national branding policy and was the local venue of choice for the touring bands of the ’60s\, including the Beatles in both March and November 1963\, the Rolling Stones in 1965 and infamously PJ Proby in 1965\, when he was arrested for splitting his trousers on stage!\n\nA number of the ’60s bands have returned to play The Deco Theatre in recent years\, including the Hollies\, the Searchers and Billy J Kramer.\n\nIn 1974\, it was converted to a three-screen complex by using the rear of the stalls with a dividing wall for the 2 smaller screens and leaving the main auditorium circle as the main ‘ABC 1’.\n\nBy the mid-’90s\, however\, the ABC now renamed Cannon cinema was unable to compete with the modern multi-screen complexes and it finally closed its doors in 1995 with the appropriately named “Terminal Velocity”.\n\nThe building was derelict for five years until 2000 when it was converted to a multi-purpose venue opening in October 2004.

SUMMARY:SEAGIRLS – THE ROADMENDER
DESCRIPTION:Sea Girls have released brand new album `Midnight Butterflies’. It’s focused melodic joy & pop perfection in twelve parts. It’s the confident sound of a band arriving at their peak. Creatively they’re utterly rejuvenated on this record\, a true artistic statement. Previous two albums have been building towards this moment & this totally modern open-hearted band are set for their biggest year yet. \nSingles Come Back To Me\, I Want You To Know Me and title track Midnight Butterflies are epic all-encompassing widescreen pieces of guitar pop perfection. \nSea Girls have never sounded so assured & creatively refreshed. They have worked with some of the most exciting Producers around on this record. Young Strangers co-written with Kid Harpoon (Harry Styles\, Haim to mention just two)\, Matt Schwartz (Yungblud Dylan on title track Midnight Butterflies. Rich Cooper (CMAT Rina Sawayama) Benji Gibson (Fred Again) The Nocturns (Mimi Webb) & Dan Bryers (Tom Grennan) have all played key Production & Producer roles on the album record & its authentic sincere new sound that tap into the themes of moving from dark into light. \nWitness Sea Girls play tightly honed tunes to huge crowds chanting back every word to songs that pack such solid punches. It is clear to see why they are growing such a dedicated fan following around the globe\, with song after song hitting like a tidal wave. That feeling of being wrapped up in a band that seizes the euphoric and turns it into something vital and real in front of your eyes – that feeling is what makes Sea Girls’ music special.

DESCRIPTION:Summer Open Days – June- September\n\n\nEvery Saturday at 2 p.m. for 2 hours\n\n\n\n\nPlease note that this event will not be taking place between 28 Jun 2025 and 5 Jul 2025\n\n\n\nChurch Of The Holy Sepulchre\n\n \nSheep Street/Church Lane Northampton\, NN1 3NL\, United Kingdom\n\n\n\n\nOur Medieval Round Church has been welcoming visitors since 1100 AD and in 2024 she is set to fling open her doors again. \nOn Saturdays afternoons from 2pm-4pm from June to September\, visitors can learn all about this fascinating church and the historic treasures she contains. (Please note there is no Open Day on 28th June) \nIf only these walls could talk\, I wonder what they would say? For the moment we will let our historians do the talking. \nThe Holy Sepulchre is the oldest building in Northampton\, surviving the great fire\, one of only four medieval round churches in the U.K.\, and has the longest aisle in Northampton. \nHistoric battles have taken place here\, famous people have been married here and royalty has visited. \nThe stained glass is beautiful\, the Soldier’s Chapel delightful and the stories even more intriguing. \nJoin our volunteers and historians every Saturday from June to September to find out more. \nDATES: \nEvery Saturday from June 6th until 6th September. 2pm-4pm. Please note there is no Open Day on 28th June. \nWHERE: \nHoly Sepulchre Church Hall\, Church Lane\, Northampton NN1 3NL. \nE-mail tours@holysepulchre.co.uk for more information. \nPlease note while the church will be open at these times we can’t always guarantee there will be a historian or tour guide on site.
