SUMMARY:From the Collection: Women Artists
DESCRIPTION:An exhibition of artworks from NMAG’s collection celebrates the variety of genres\, methods and media used by women artists\, from the eighteenth to the twenty-first century. Northampton Museum & Art Gallery Saturday 11 November – Sunday 12 April 2026 Throughout history\, both men and women have created art\, yet only a select few have been remembered within Western art history. Art by men was historically valued more highly than art by women\, reflecting broader beliefs that only men could possess artistic or creative genius. Certain genres and mediums were also considered more prestigious\, while work made in the domestic sphere was dismissed as craft or decoration rather than recognised as fine art. Women were barred from studying nude figures a crucial part of classical art training until the late 1800s. Second-wave feminism in the twentieth century\, and wider social changes in the twenty-first\, have challenged these hierarchies. Today\, women are at the forefront of artistic production\, with artists such as Tracey Emin\, Maggi Hambling\, Rachel Whiteread and Jasleen Kaur recognised as leading voices in contemporary art.

SUMMARY:Still Making A Scene Matinee - relaxed family friendly (PG/12A) + filmmaker Q&A
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our relaxed\, family friendly Opening Gala matinee which includes a soft drink in the ticket price. Walk the red carpet with us and watch some amazing films in a beautiful Northampton venue. Come dressed up ready to have your photo taken or come in whatever you feel comfortable in! Photos are optional (and free!). We’ll also have an opportunity to ask filmmakers present about their films after watching them. \nMost of the films you’ll be watching are part of our 18yrs and Under category\, made by local and British young filmmakers. There’s also music\, comedy\, dance and drama. \nWe’ve got 2 screenings in one event for you – a PG screening 3pm-4pm then a short interval followed by a 20-minute 12A screening from about 3.15pm. For those that just want to see the PG films\, there will be entertainment for you in other rooms in the Abbey – so bring the family and make a creative afternoon of it! All children must be accompanied by a paying adult. \nDoors 2.30pm with screening starting promptly at 3pm (film order may change): \nSI Superficial Intelligence \nNavigating The Net \nThe Missing Piece \nLost in the Backrooms \nGreat Fire of Northampton \nBalls. \nBone Collector \nThen a short break before the 12A films: \nBurnout \nPeaches \nSmall I’s \nDancing To Art \nThese films have some mild bad language and some injury detail\, and contain themes like burnout\, apocalypse and rebellion (!) which you might feel is unsuitable for your child who is under 12. Any age child under 12 can watch these films as long as they are accompanied by an adult. \nAfter watching the films\, elsewhere in the Abbey you can take part in some creative activities and/or view our Rebels and Revolutionaries art exhibition. \nChildren are 16yrs and Under. You don’t need to be a family to use the family ticket – any 2 adults (16yrs+) and 2 children (under 16yrs) can be a family for the day! \nFree parking is a few hundred metres from the venue. The path from the car park to the venue is a flat gravel path. There is step free access to all spaces and a disabled toilet. Some floors in the Abbey are uneven (not our main event space though). We have flexible seating (padded dining room chairs) and the space can accommodate multiple wheelchair users (no need to book a specific ticket or let us know in advance). While music will be played at this event it will be possible to be in spaces without music playing. \nThis is a relaxed screening where people are free to move around\, make a bit of noise and generally be relaxed! If you are a Disabled Person bringing a carer with you to be able to visit\, please contact us to get a free ticket for the carer. \nIf you have any access queries or want more information about the event content\, you are welcome to get in touch via info@northamptonfilmfestival.co.uk\, 07930 646721 or visit our arts space The Creative Place on Northampton Market Square.

SUMMARY:Top Gs Like Me
DESCRIPTION:A new comedy\, set in Northampton\, about growing up online. \nFULL CAST ANNOUNCED! \nAidan’s lost. His best mate’s starting uni\, his mum can’t get out of bed\, and his new side hustle has questionable legality. Meanwhile\, he’s stacking shelves at the supermarket wondering if this is all he’s cut out for. He’s got hobbies – hanging out at the skate park and doom scrolling his days away. \nAs he’s lapping up the algorithm ‘Hugo Bang’ appears with the promise to help Aidan become the alpha he was born to be. \nWill Hugo Bang help Aidan get his life back on track\, or will he lead Aidan to a darker\, more dangerous place? \nDirected by Jesse Jones\, this brand-new play by local playwright Samson Hawkins (author of Stratford East’s critically acclaimed Village Idiot) crackles with dry humour and a modern-day wit. \nTransforming the Derngate auditorium into a skatepark\, this Made In Northampton production dives headfirst into the influence of online culture\, the pull of toxic masculinity\, and the search for identity in the digital age. \nTop Gs Like Me was developed with the support of the National Theatre’s Generate programme. \nInitially developed through the Royal & Derngate Generate programme in partnership with Andy Routledge.

SUMMARY:The Rise & Fall of Little Voice
DESCRIPTION:White Cobra Theatricals proudly presents The Rise and Fall of Little Voice\, Jim Cartwright’s Olivier Award-winning modern classic.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShy and reclusive LV spends her days locked away in her bedroom\, finding solace in her father’s old records. But when she opens her mouth to sing\, something extraordinary happens: the powerful voices of countless divas pour out. \nWhen a sleazy talent scout hears her gift however\, LV is thrust into a spotlight she never asked for\, much to the annoyance of her brash\, larger-than-life mother. \nAs dreams clash with desperation\, Little Voice must find the courage to speak—and sing—for herself. \nFunny\, raw and heartbreakingly human! Don’t miss this bittersweet tale that celebrates the magic of music and the fight to be heard. \nThis amateur production of “The Rise and Fall of Little Voice” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd. On behalf of Samuel French Ltd. www.concordtheatricals.co.uk

SUMMARY:THEE UN-NAMED
DESCRIPTION:Playing rock ’n’ roll the old way Raw\, reckless\, and soaked in swing. Drawing from the early fire of rockabilly\, rhythm & blues\, and primitive rock ’n’ roll\, the band sounds like something leaking out of a late-night jukebox\, sometime after midnight and just before trouble starts. There’s romance and menace\, humor and hurt\, and just enough chaos to keep things dangerous.THEE UN-NAMED leans into classic rock ’n’ roll themes —love gone wrong\, fast living\, bad decisions\, and restless hearts —pulled straight from the long tradition of the music that influenced everything !Stories wrapped in melodies that feel older than the names attached to them\, familiar yet untamed.
