SUMMARY:Theatretrain presents Best Day of My Life
DESCRIPTION:A cavalcade of hits from 1960 to 2019. \nThe 350 performers are split into two groups\, with half making up a big choir and the other half telling their story through dance and acting. In the interval\, they swap over so all the performers sing\, dance and act. \nEach decade has its own stories\, objects\, pictures\, films\, fashion and of course music. As the evening continues\, each decade fits into the next. It’s like seeing your life flash before you as you make connections with the past\, greet songs as old friends and relive memories. What was the best day of your life? \nTheatretrain specialises in creating large-scale productions with young people. \nFor over 30 years\, they have performed in theatres throughout the country and particularly the West End\, including: The London Palladium\, The Theatre Royal Drury Lane\, \nThe O2 Arena and 14 times at the Royal Albert Hall. In all\, they have given over 100 large-scale performances and introduced thousands of young people to the magic of live theatre.

SUMMARY:From the Collection: Drawings
DESCRIPTION:An exhibition of drawings from the Northampton Museums & Art Gallery collection. \nThis exhibition explores drawing as a fundamental artistic language\, presenting preparatory sketches and finished works that reveal how ideas take shape on paper. Through the delicate studies of Henry Moore\, the atmospheric sketches of Walter Sickert\, the imaginative designs of Sir Edward Burne Jones\, and the expressive drawings of Clare Abbatt\, amongst others\, visitors are invited to consider drawing not merely as a preliminary step but as an art form in its own right. The works on display highlight how artists across different periods and practices use line\, tone\, and observation to experiment\, problem solve\, and refine their vision. Together\, they celebrate drawing’s enduring role as a tool for exploration\, invention\, and creative thinking.

SUMMARY:Rose Finn Kelcey: House Rules
DESCRIPTION:Arts Collective launches its new gallery programme with an exhibition revisiting the pioneering work of British conceptual artist Rose Finn-Kelcey\, curated by Emer Grant. This marks the first presentation of the artist’s work in her hometown of Northampton. \nFeaturing photographic\, installation and video works loaned from national collections and archives\, the exhibition recontextualises Finn-Kelcey’s groundbreaking practice through architectural space and coded forms. It considers how formal systems and power structures shape experience through architecture\, language\, ritual and atmosphere. \nExhibited publicly for the first time since its original installation\, Bar Doors (1991) captures architectural thresholds\, foregrounding moments of passage between spaces. The photographic documentation of Finn-Kelcey’s site-specific installation—seven saloon-style doors installed in a Houston city park—invites viewers to reconsider familiar architectural features as markers of access and permission. \nThe exhibition also explores Finn-Kelcey’s fascination with spirituality and its connections to the commercial and domestic structures of contemporary life\, featuring works such as It Pays to Pray (1990)\, God Kennel – A Tabernacle (1992) and Jolly God (1997). Her iconic flag works are also presented\, including documentation of Power for the People (1972)\, in which a collective political declaration was placed directly onto the monumental architecture of Battersea Power Station while it remained operational. \nThroughout the exhibition\, architecture\, movement and attention shape how the works are encountered. Finn-Kelcey’s work offers a lens through which to experience 24 Guildhall Road as an active structure—shaped by play\, language and collective imagination. \n\n\n\n\nImage Credit: Rose Finn-Kelcey Bar Doors (Photograph of installation) 1991 \nWood\, Houston International Festival\, Buffalo Bayou Park\, Houston\, Texas. SUMMARY:An Evening With Ben Cohen
DESCRIPTION:Member priority booking period begins at 10am on Thu 23 April\n\nIf you are a member\, please make sure you are logged into your account before clicking the Times & Book button to select your seats. To learn more about becoming a member\, please click here or speak to our Box Office in person or at 01604 624811. \nThis show will be on general sale from Fri 24 April at 10am \n\nBen Cohen MBE – Rugby World Cup Winner\, Entrepreneur\, Advocate\, Ally  and Mental Health Champion \nRugby World Cup Winner Ben Cohen MBE is a truly unique and inspiring personality: a prolific try scorer on the pitch\, an in-demand corporate speaker\, a pioneering anti-bullying campaigner\, a celebrated LGBTQIA+ ally\, and someone who transformed personal challenges—including hearing loss and persistent tinnitus—into strengths that have shaped his life and work. \nI came to prominence with Northampton Saints\, helping the club lift the Heineken Cup in 2000. A powerful\, quick\, and instinctive wing\, I earned my international debut for England against Ireland in the 2000 Six Nations\, going on to win 57 caps\, score 31 international tries\, and tour with the legendary British & Irish Lions in 2001. I also proudly represented top clubs including Northampton Saints\, Brive\, and Sale Sharks\, earning accolades such as Sale’s Player of the Season\, before retiring at 32. \nBeyond the pitch\, my personal journey has shaped missions far greater than sporting success. For nearly 20 years\, I have been a passionate ally\, working within Diversity\, Inclusion\, and LGBTQIA+ communities\, advocating for authenticity\, equality\, and safe spaces in schools\, workplaces\, and society at large. My love of testing myself has led me to extreme and immersive experiences—whether working as a trawler-man in the North Atlantic sea\, competing on The Jump\, enduring the rigours of SAS: Who Dares Wins\, or working with some of my former teammates on Grand Slammers\, teaching prisoners how to play rugby and inspiring life change through sport. I have also written and developed television content\, including Unbreakable on TNT/Discovery+\, which explores the challenges athletes face after professional sport and the realities of life beyond the game. \nI am also a dedicated mental health advocate\, with a particular focus on men’s mental health and human behaviour. My own journey of understanding mental wellbeing has been deeply personal and enlightening\, informing both my public speaking and the support I provide to others. \nThe tragic loss of my father to violence\, alongside stories of bullying I encountered in schools and workplaces\, inspired me to found the StandUp Foundation\, the world’s first anti-bullying charity. This work evolved into global partnerships with Nike and the #BeTrue brand\, creating a platform that raises awareness and funds for equality in sport. We achieved this not only by building a strong\, values-driven brand but also by forming a coalition of organisations across the D&I space\, tackling stereotypes\, bridging gaps\, and using sport—especially outside political arenas—as a driver of cultural change\, understanding\, and acceptance. \nTransitioning from professional sport\, I immersed myself in business and innovation\, founding Soo Yoga and 03 Champions—a platform that reunited the 2003 Rugby World Cup-winning team to create brands and partnerships supporting athletes as they leave professional sport. Through mental health support\, therapy\, education\, and career pathways\, I help sportspeople navigate life beyond competition\, leaving a legacy far greater than sporting achievement. \nAn inductee of the National Gay and Lesbian Sports Hall of Fame\, I continue to champion resilience\, inclusion\, and mental wellbeing. Whether on the field\, in business\, or through life’s toughest challenges\, I believe true strength lies not just in victory\, but in lifting others along the way.
