DESCRIPTION:As part of Northampton’s Black History Month programming\, NN Contemporary Art And the Northamptonshire Black History Association present a thought-provoking evening in conversation with acclaimed writer and academic Kojo Koram\, critic and artist/filmmaker Morgan Quaintance\, and artist and educator Shepherd Manyika. \nTaking place at Northampton Filmhouse on 27th October\, with support from The Royal & Derngate\, the evening will explore the intersection of contemporary political strategies and aesthetic practices\, featuring an interactive screening\, readings\, and discussions around decolonization in contemporary culture. Proposing the Black Archives as a tool for contemporary activist practice\, through diverse perspectives\, the event will delve into evolving anti-colonial discourse by examining different approaches to filmmaking and personal narrative as material to engage with structures of power and class. \nThe event aims to be a platform for open dialogue and exchange\, meshing traditional socio-political and cultural categories.
