INSPIRED BY REMARKABLE TRUE EVENTS “It’s built for us, isn’t it? The Spitfire. Built for women.” New Year’s Eve, 1959. Decades after answering the call, two women separated by the war meet again as the rain hammers down on the windows of The Spitfire pub. As we hear their story, we’re transported back to a time when female pioneers defied expectations and soared through the skies. Spitfire Girls is inspired by the extraordinary true stories of the women who dared to fly during WWII and the incredible bond that tied them together. Funny and heart-warming, this is an untold story of strength, courage and loss. But above all else, hope. Spitfire Girls was developed with the support of the National Theatre’s Generate programme. This production contains themes of war. Video and photos feature 2025 tour cast.

‘Never Had A Chance’ with short ‘Far From the Plains’ (18)

Films start at 8.15pm promptly with no trailers - first we have short film 'Far From The Plains'. Hot off the back of Netflix’s hit show Adolescence, 'Far From the Plains' stars the up-and-coming Amari Bacchus alongside acclaimed, BRIT-nominated artist, Kojey Radical, in his first film role, as well as Faith Alabi of HBO’s Industry and Luca Guadagnino’s We Are Who We Are. Then we have feature film 'Never Had A Chance', Jazz Bhalla's debut feature, a British Asian drama set in West London, Hounslow's Punjabi community. Doors open 20 minutes before the films start. Northampton Filmhouse has step free access to the screening room but only 1 wheelchair space and only 1 row of chairs without using steps. The wheelchair space can be booked below but if you'd like to reserve a space in the top row please book a ticket then contact us.
