SUMMARY:Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:Join the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) for an epic orchestral afternoon at the Royal & Derngate with internationally acclaimed violinist Clara-Jumi Kang. \n\nPlease note that this programme has changed from earlier published versions. Please note the change of conductor for this concert. \nBen Glassberg Conductor \nClara-Jumi Kang Violin \nRoyal Philharmonic Orchestra \n\nHisaishi Encounter for String Orchestra \nSibelius Violin Concerto \nBeethoven Symphony No.5 \n\nThe first five bars of Beethoven’s iconic Fifth Symphony\, possibly the most famous opening motif in classical music history\, portend something mysterious and momentous. Filled with turmoil and beauty\, this orchestral masterwork will leave you awestruck long after its triumphant finale. \nBut that’s not all: the evening opens with a delightful new miniature from the RPO’s Composer-in-Association Joe Hisaishi (Spirited Away)\, and Clara-Jumi Kang brings her world-class insight to Sibelius’ brooding yet passionate Violin Concerto. Bringing together folk and classical styles\, this timeless piece gives both soloist and orchestra a chance to shine\, from its expressive and passionate beginning through to its spirited\, dance-like final movement. \n‘A vibrantly intense performance… direct yet sensitive and her technique throughout was marvellously secure and commanding… The powerhouse articulation and accuracy in the finale was phenomenal.’ – Limelight on Clara- Jumi Kang playing Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto\, November 2024

This electrifying tribute show celebrates the music and unparalleled career of the one and only Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll\, Tina Turner. \nGet ready for an unforgettable evening of high-energy\, feel-good rock and soul\, brought to life by a phenomenal live band. Packed with all the classic hits you know and love\, the show delivers showstopping performances of Proud Mary\, River Deep – Mountain High\, Simply The Best\, Private Dancer\, Nutbush City Limits\, and many more. \nStepping into Tina’s iconic heels is Kent’s own Holly Bannis\, the daughter of Greg Bannis\, former lead singer of Hot Chocolate. Holly’s rise to center stage is as inspiring as it is exciting. Growing up in a musical family\, Holly honed her craft for over a decade performing semi-professionally before an audition on ITV’s Starstruck changed her life. “I had to audition as three of my musical icons\, and Tina was an obvious choice for me. During lockdown\, I studied her performances obsessively\, getting into her moves\, her walk\, and her energy.” \nIt wasn’t long before the team behind What’s Love Got To Do With It? noticed Holly’s raw talent and passion. Initially cast as a backing singer and understudy\, Holly quickly stepped into the spotlight\, making the lead role her own and earning standing ovations night after night. \nAudiences can expect a show bursting with energy\, emotion\, and that signature Tina fire. The production kicks off with hits like Private Dancer\, as Holly fully inhabits Tina’s powerful vocals and unmistakable moves\, transporting fans to the heart of a live Tina Turner concert experience. Then\, in the show-stopping second half\, the audience is guaranteed to be on their feet\, dancing and singing along to high-octane classics like Nutbush City Limits. \nWhat’s Love Got To Do With It? isn’t just a concert – it’s a celebration of Tina Turner’s legacy\, a night of unrelenting joy\, and a tribute to one of the most electrifying performers in music history. \nPlease note that this is a tribute production and is not endorsed by or affiliated with the Tina Turner Estate.

SUMMARY:An Evening With Ben Cohen
DESCRIPTION:Member priority booking period begins at 10am on Thu 23 April\n\nIf you are a member\, please make sure you are logged into your account before clicking the Times & Book button to select your seats. To learn more about becoming a member\, please click here or speak to our Box Office in person or at 01604 624811. \nThis show will be on general sale from Fri 24 April at 10am \n\nBen Cohen MBE – Rugby World Cup Winner\, Entrepreneur\, Advocate\, Ally  and Mental Health Champion \nRugby World Cup Winner Ben Cohen MBE is a truly unique and inspiring personality: a prolific try scorer on the pitch\, an in-demand corporate speaker\, a pioneering anti-bullying campaigner\, a celebrated LGBTQIA+ ally\, and someone who transformed personal challenges—including hearing loss and persistent tinnitus—into strengths that have shaped his life and work. \nI came to prominence with Northampton Saints\, helping the club lift the Heineken Cup in 2000. A powerful\, quick\, and instinctive wing\, I earned my international debut for England against Ireland in the 2000 Six Nations\, going on to win 57 caps\, score 31 international tries\, and tour with the legendary British & Irish Lions in 2001. I also proudly represented top clubs including Northampton Saints\, Brive\, and Sale Sharks\, earning accolades such as Sale’s Player of the Season\, before retiring at 32. \nBeyond the pitch\, my personal journey has shaped missions far greater than sporting success. For nearly 20 years\, I have been a passionate ally\, working within Diversity\, Inclusion\, and LGBTQIA+ communities\, advocating for authenticity\, equality\, and safe spaces in schools\, workplaces\, and society at large. My love of testing myself has led me to extreme and immersive experiences—whether working as a trawler-man in the North Atlantic sea\, competing on The Jump\, enduring the rigours of SAS: Who Dares Wins\, or working with some of my former teammates on Grand Slammers\, teaching prisoners how to play rugby and inspiring life change through sport. I have also written and developed television content\, including Unbreakable on TNT/Discovery+\, which explores the challenges athletes face after professional sport and the realities of life beyond the game. \nI am also a dedicated mental health advocate\, with a particular focus on men’s mental health and human behaviour. My own journey of understanding mental wellbeing has been deeply personal and enlightening\, informing both my public speaking and the support I provide to others. \nThe tragic loss of my father to violence\, alongside stories of bullying I encountered in schools and workplaces\, inspired me to found the StandUp Foundation\, the world’s first anti-bullying charity. This work evolved into global partnerships with Nike and the #BeTrue brand\, creating a platform that raises awareness and funds for equality in sport. We achieved this not only by building a strong\, values-driven brand but also by forming a coalition of organisations across the D&I space\, tackling stereotypes\, bridging gaps\, and using sport—especially outside political arenas—as a driver of cultural change\, understanding\, and acceptance. \nTransitioning from professional sport\, I immersed myself in business and innovation\, founding Soo Yoga and 03 Champions—a platform that reunited the 2003 Rugby World Cup-winning team to create brands and partnerships supporting athletes as they leave professional sport. Through mental health support\, therapy\, education\, and career pathways\, I help sportspeople navigate life beyond competition\, leaving a legacy far greater than sporting achievement. \nAn inductee of the National Gay and Lesbian Sports Hall of Fame\, I continue to champion resilience\, inclusion\, and mental wellbeing. Whether on the field\, in business\, or through life’s toughest challenges\, I believe true strength lies not just in victory\, but in lifting others along the way.

SUMMARY:Alfie Moore: Acopalypse Now
DESCRIPTION:The Four Horsemen of Rising Crime\, Global Warming\, AI and Culture Wars are galloping towards us. Are we on the road to hell? And can we avoid the potholes? In his brand new tour show Alfie has the antidote to the breakdown of law and order\, fake news and the price of baked beans. \nHe’s encountered more than his fair share of egotistical dictators in his policing career and learnt when pragmatism\, and more than a dash of laughter\, can defuse even the most menacing showdown. \nJoin Alfie as he’s saddles up to see off those bullies on their pesky ponies. Doomsday is no laughing matter\, but this show certainly is. \n“offbeat\, revealing and very funny”  – You Magazine \n“Brilliantly funny…genuinely hilarious” – David Mitchell \n“His charisma shines through as bright and colourful as a twirling blue light” – Times
