Celebrate the Royal Wedding in Circus style

Celebrate the Royal Wedding in Circus style

Acrobatics, piano shows and outdoor comedy routines are just some of the acts to hit Northampton town centre streets this May with the return of the Street Circus.

Northampton town centre Business Improvement District’s (BID) free one-day Street Circus is on Saturday 19th May – to tie in with the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – and will include some of the UK’s best circus acts, street entertainers and walkabout artists who will perform on Abington Street and in the Market Square between 11am-4pm on the day.

Rob Purdie, BID executive director said: “Our Street Circus last year created masses of fun, excitement and energy and pulled hundreds of families into the town centre so we are very excited about doing it all again. It will be totally free just like last time and we have some of the most well known outdoor acts lined up to take to our town centre streets. We want people to join us for this celebration event.”

In a special Royal Wedding twist, there will also be a chance to take selfies with life-size cut outs of the Queen and bride and groom, Meghan and Prince Harry. The Street Circus main stage will once again feature a big yellow American school bus, a large deckchair, circus skills workshop and FREE face painting for children.

The event also coincides with the start of Northampton Borough Council’s Love Your Local Market Fortnight which will include art and craft workshops on the Market Square.
