Teachers’ conference will focus on inclusion for special educational needs students

For this year’s Schools’ Inclusion Conference educators will explore how to create transformational learning experiences and outcomes for all special educational needs’ students.
The central themes for the event – to be held at Waterside Campus on Friday, 3 July 2026 (9:30am-3:30pm) – will be inclusive and adaptive teaching methods, early identification of needs, multi-agency collaboration, and promoting wellbeing and belonging in the classroom.
Through keynote presentations – including Professor Jonathan Glazzard who will talk about ‘Ways Forward to a Flourishing SEND System: Implications for Practice and Research’ – practical workshops and collaborative discussions, attendees will engage with current research, innovative strategies and real-world case studies focused on supporting diverse learners.
Julian Brown, Head of the School of Education and Society, said: “The University of Northampton is proud to convene this impactful conference dedicated to special educational needs and inclusive practice.
“Designed for teachers and education professionals, the event brings together practitioners, researchers and sector leaders to explore how inclusive approaches can transform learning experiences and outcomes for all students.
“Inclusion is not an ‘add-on’ but is integral to excellence in teaching and learning. By equipping educators with practical tools, research insights and collaborative networks, the conference empowers teachers to continuously develop their practice and strive for the very best outcomes for every learner. We look forward to a day of ideas and innovation.”
