When: Mon, 19 August, 11am – 3pm Description: EXPLORING THE SOCIETY'S COLLECTIONS. The society has a number of important collections including - butterflies, shells, eggs, sands, microscope slides, rocks, minerals and Northamptonshire fossils etc. This is a great opportunity to look at important and extensive collections, to draw, study them or just appreciate their beauty. When: Tue, 20 August, 7:30pm – 9:30pm Description: FORAMINIFERA OF BRITISH BEACHES by Ian Wilson. I read an old (1882 I think) journal of the PMS recently and there was an article about separating forams from sand by flotation. It's really easy, messy enough to be fun and produces a concentrated sample of forams which I thought was pretty impressive and can be viewed with stereo and compound microscopes. I hope to have a seaside holiday between now and then too so can collect and dry a bucketful of sand - enough for everyone. Find out more at www.nnhs.info/

When: Wed, 21 August, 7:30pm – 9:30pm Description: IMPROMPTU PHOTOGRAPHIC NIGHTS. Come along with your camera gear. Subject to be agreed on the night and may be Post Processing (Photoshop), Still Life, Studio Flash, AV, or anything else you would like to cover. When: Thu, 22 August, 2:30pm – 4:30pm Description: THE EASTER 1998 FLOODING OF ST JAMES. Easter 1998 saw over 2400 properties flooded in the St James area. We will see the effects at the time and what has been done to stop it happening again. Find out more at www.nnhs.info/
