The Rise & Fall of Little Voice

Royal and Derngate Theatre 19-21 Guildhall Road, Northampton, Northamptonshire, NN1 1DP

White Cobra Theatricals proudly presents The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, Jim Cartwright’s Olivier Award-winning modern classic. Shy and reclusive LV spends her days locked away in her bedroom, finding solace in her father’s old records. But when she opens her mouth to sing, something extraordinary happens: the powerful voices of countless divas pour out. When a sleazy talent scout hears her gift however, LV is thrust into a spotlight she never asked for, much to the annoyance of her brash, larger-than-life mother. As dreams clash with desperation, Little Voice must find the courage to speak—and sing—for herself. Funny, raw and heartbreakingly human! Don’t miss this bittersweet tale that celebrates the magic of music and the fight to be heard. This amateur production of “The Rise and Fall of Little Voice” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd. On behalf of Samuel French Ltd. www.concordtheatricals.co.uk

From the Collection: Women Artists

Northampton Museum And Art Gallery 4-6 Guildhall Rd,, Northampton, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom

An exhibition of artworks from NMAG's collection celebrates the variety of genres, methods and media used by women artists, from the eighteenth to the twenty-first century. Northampton Museum & Art Gallery Saturday 11 November - Sunday 12 April 2026 Throughout history, both men and women have created art, yet only a select few have been remembered within Western art history. Art by men was historically valued more highly than art by women, reflecting broader beliefs that only men could possess artistic or creative genius. Certain genres and mediums were also considered more prestigious, while work made in the domestic sphere was dismissed as craft or decoration rather than recognised as fine art. Women were barred from studying nude figures a crucial part of classical art training until the late 1800s. Second-wave feminism in the twentieth century, and wider social changes in the twenty-first, have challenged these hierarchies. Today, women are at the forefront of artistic production, with artists such as Tracey Emin, Maggi Hambling, Rachel Whiteread and Jasleen Kaur recognised as leading voices in contemporary art.

THEE UN-NAMED

The King Billy Music Bar 2 Commercial Street, Northampton, United Kingdom

Playing rock ’n’ roll the old way Raw, reckless, and soaked in swing. Drawing from the early fire of rockabilly, rhythm & blues, and primitive rock ’n’ roll, the band sounds like something leaking out of a late-night jukebox, sometime after midnight and just before trouble starts. There’s romance and menace, humor and hurt, and just enough chaos to keep things dangerous.THEE UN-NAMED leans into classic rock ’n’ roll themes —love gone wrong, fast living, bad decisions, and restless hearts —pulled straight from the long tradition of the music that influenced everything !Stories wrapped in melodies that feel older than the names attached to them, familiar yet untamed.
