Northants is a county of Rebels and Revolutionaries, Misfits and Mavericks, Creatives and Changemakers - so here's a selection of shorts from our 2026 submissions which we thought fitted under the Misfits or Mavericks themes. Here at NFF we think there's lots of positivity around the idea of being a misfit. Misfits and Mavericks think differently, take up space differently, but also sometimes we all have that desire to just fit in.... Films start promptly at 8.15pm - no trailers. Doors open 20 minutes before the films start. Northampton Filmhouse has step free access to the screening room but only 1 wheelchair space and only 1 row of chairs without using steps. The wheelchair space can be booked below but if you'd like to reserve a space in the top row please book a ticket then contact us. An exhibition of artworks from NMAG's collection celebrates the variety of genres, methods and media used by women artists, from the eighteenth to the twenty-first century. Northampton Museum & Art Gallery Saturday 11 November - Sunday 12 April 2026 Throughout history, both men and women have created art, yet only a select few have been remembered within Western art history. Art by men was historically valued more highly than art by women, reflecting broader beliefs that only men could possess artistic or creative genius. Certain genres and mediums were also considered more prestigious, while work made in the domestic sphere was dismissed as craft or decoration rather than recognised as fine art. Women were barred from studying nude figures a crucial part of classical art training until the late 1800s. Second-wave feminism in the twentieth century, and wider social changes in the twenty-first, have challenged these hierarchies. Today, women are at the forefront of artistic production, with artists such as Tracey Emin, Maggi Hambling, Rachel Whiteread and Jasleen Kaur recognised as leading voices in contemporary art.

Northampton Museum & Art Gallery Saturday 17 January - Sunday 22 March 2026 The artist has been described as 'a modern master of the medium of stone carving' and his works are collected worldwide. The exhibition has two strands celebrating human life and the force of water. Visitor Advisory: This exhibition includes sculptures featuring the nude human form and parental discretion is advised.

Meet the dinosaurs' distant ancestors, the very first reptiles, the largest creepy-crawlies ever to live, and prehistoric animals unlike anything you've ever seen before! A must-see for prehistoric monster fans of all ages!

Join us on the first floor of the University's Creative Hub for a free networking event. There will be a bar, a chance to watch some the entries to our Games competition and opportunities to meet other local creatives. All welcome. We try to create a friendly networking space - if you want some introductions, say hello to a NFF volunteer when you arrive. Doors open 4.30pm. If you also want to watch the short films we're showing in the screening room next door please book tickets for these as well. We may be able to fit extra people in on the night but this is not guaranteed without a ticket. Those under 16yrs must be accompanied by an adult. There are some tables and chairs available in the space. Step free access on tarmac paths from University car parks and from St Johns multistorey car parks using lifts. Tickets are free so we usually sell out - so please let us know if you can no longer make it so we can release your ticket. Please arrive by 5pm - we cannot hold unused tickets if there is a waiting list on the day so your ticket may be released to someone else if you are not there at the beginning of the screening. A new comedy, set in Northampton, about growing up online. FULL CAST ANNOUNCED! Aidan’s lost. His best mate’s starting uni, his mum can’t get out of bed, and his new side hustle has questionable legality. Meanwhile, he’s stacking shelves at the supermarket wondering if this is all he’s cut out for. He’s got hobbies – hanging out at the skate park and doom scrolling his days away. As he’s lapping up the algorithm ‘Hugo Bang’ appears with the promise to help Aidan become the alpha he was born to be. Will Hugo Bang help Aidan get his life back on track, or will he lead Aidan to a darker, more dangerous place? Directed by Jesse Jones, this brand-new play by local playwright Samson Hawkins (author of Stratford East’s critically acclaimed Village Idiot) crackles with dry humour and a modern-day wit. Transforming the Derngate auditorium into a skatepark, this Made In Northampton production dives headfirst into the influence of online culture, the pull of toxic masculinity, and the search for identity in the digital age.
