Choirs from across the primary and secondary schools of the David Ross Education Trust (DRET) perform the UK premiere of James Burton’s The Lost Words, conducted by the composer. Inspired by the bestselling children’s book by Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris, The Lost Words celebrates the wonder of the natural world through a series of spell-poems, each describing a word in danger of disappearing from children’s language – acorn, dandelion, otter, bramble – and brings them to life again through song. This performance, suitable for all the family, will be accompanied by digital art created by pupils from DRET schools.
The Mayhew Youth Dance Company return to the stage with a varied programme of classical and contemporary works. This young dynamic company shine in a mixture of established repertoire and new choreography created specifically for the company. With a wealth of young talent on show, this production will appeal to all lovers of dance.
This latest Roadshow from East Midlands Community Led Housing will provide information to community organisations, Parish Councils, housing bodies, land-owners and other professional interests on how local people are having a central role in creating new homes and neighbourhoods to meet the needs of their communities. Examples of such projects and successes will be highlighted and used to explore ideas for how further initiatives could be established around Northampton and the county area.

Conductor Delyana Lazarova brings her dynamic and electrifying conducting style to Northampton with Sinfonia Viva, the orchestra of the East Midlands, in one of Beethoven’s most celebrated works. Beethoven’s Symphony No.3 is a bold musical statement that revels in drama and flamboyance, igniting the spark for what became the Romantic period. Exciting young Israeli pianist Ariel Lanyi joins the orchestra for Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20. A piece very much admired by Beethoven, the concerto is an inspiring statement of musical joy, brought to life by the intense virtuosity of Lanyi’s precise and lyrical playing.
O Sing Joyfully! Saturday 8 July, Holy Sepulchre, Northampton The choir returns to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, this time to perform the Monteverdi in concert, along with other European music from the period by composers such as Tallis and Batten. Sit back and relax in this superb historic building and listen to the choir along with organ and string accompaniment from Thomas Moore, Adrian Turner and others.
