Justin Hayward OBE has enjoyed a career which is now in its fifth decade. He is best known as the vocalist, lead guitarist and composer for the iconic Moody Blues, whose hits include the masterful ‘Nights in White Satin’, ‘Tuesday Afternoon’, ‘Question’, ‘The Voice’ and the US top 40 hits ‘I Know You’re Out there Somewhere’ and In Your Wildest Dreams’: plus other classic, era and genre-defining hits. These laid the foundation for the incredible success story of the Moody Blues – as well as Hayward’s solo work – which continues to this day. Already established as a songwriter, he joined the Moody Blues in 1966. Hitting his stride immediately with “Fly Me High,” he followed it with ‘Nights in White Satin’ and ‘Tuesday Afternoon’ from the seminal album Days of Future Past. Explore the museum through stories, music, art and craft activities whilst making new friends and creating memories in an engaging and family friendly environment. These sessions are for pre-school children (from 2.5 to 5 years) and their parents and carers. Held on Friday mornings during term time with a different theme each week. The cast includes Richard Jordan, Fraser Haines, Bernie Wood and Kimberley Vaughan with original music by Martin Heath. It is directed by Martin Borley-Cox. The portrait of André is by Willy Gilder who is living with dementia. The Laforey parade will step off from the Guildhall at 11am, following two loops of a route along St Giles' Street, down Hazelwood Road and up Derngate, back to St Giles' Square. At the end of the parade, cadets will salute local dignitaries, including Brigadier David Russell-Parsons, Deputy Lord-Lieutenant of Northamptonshire and the Mayor of Northampton. Formal proceedings begin in the Guildhall Courtyard at 10.15am, with a march of the guard and parade inspection taking place ahead of a service of remembrance at approximately 10.30am. HMS Laforey was adopted by the community of Northampton in 1941 during 'Warship Week', a Royal Navy fundraising initiative which saw towns and cities in Britain raise money towards building naval ships. The town raised more than £750,000 to fund HMS Laforey and she was assigned to several operations in Mediterranean Sea, including escorting a relief convoy to Malta as part of Operation Halberd. Local charities, churches and schools also provided the ship's crew with gloves, socks and hats, while school children wrote them letters. When officers and men from the adopted ship visited the local community, a celebratory parade was organised in their honour. Sadly, the ship sank on the 30th March 1944 after...
