Hugh Dennis and Steve Punt are back on tour for the first time in 10 years. Older but not really much wiser, they are returning to what they do best; sitting in traffic jams wondering if a different route would have been better, and then in the evening, presenting their new live show. What have they learned from a decade of following the news for Mock The Week and The Now Show? What wisdom has experience taught them? And have they learned any new jokes? Let’s hope so. They promise they have.
“In our 70th anniversary year the Northampton Gilbert & Sullivan Group are thrilled to be returning to the stage with a brand-new production of The Mikado. This perennial family favourite was the group’s first production, and it seems only fitting for us to be starting our next 70 years with the same show. The Mikado is, without doubt, the most popular of Gilbert & Sullivan’s operettas, and it is no wonder as the story skilfully combines colourful characters, memorable music, with an underlying tale of power, corruption, love, betrothal and sycophancy……

Multi award winning comedian Ray Bradshaw is forever being told “you look just like my mate…” where ever he goes. It’s been happening for years and he’s worried about it. Either someone is cloning generic bald men or, there’s a ginger bearded bald man out there who’s doing a bad job of stalking Ray. In his brand-new show Doppelginger, Ray is going to use the latest in genetic research (the internet) to try and put an end to this once and for all. He’s on a quest to find the person who looks most like him. Doppelginger is a funny heartwarming comedy show about a silly search for a man with an orange beard who’s follicly challenged. If you have a bald, ginger bearded friend in their 30s (true at time of writing), then bring them along. You never know – they could be The One. Ray’s last show Deaf Com One was a huge success and sold out theatres across the world. The show was all about growing up with deaf parents and as a result every show of Doppelginger will have a BSL interpreter. Ray has previously supported John Bishop on his UK arena tour after John described him as ‘one of the best...

Explore the exotic space where science and magic meet with the magician-scientist-adventurer, trained by US magic legends Penn & Teller. With over a decade of Edinburgh Fringe sell-outs, performances around Europe and tours of Australia, Kevin Quantum embarks on his first ever UK tour with an entrancing collection of unique magic inventions, stunning sleight-of-hand and beautiful (yet deadly) stunts in a show – inspired by science but targeted at humans. Fizzing with energy and moving moments (scientifically and emotionally) Kevin swings effortlessly from edge-of-your-seat astonishment to belly laughs – culminating with the ‘flaming cannonball’ illusion; a deadly, reimagined version of a Newton’s Cradle – the science desk toy. Regarded as a world-class showman and magic creator, Kevin entrances with an inspiring evening shrouded in mystery, intrigue and wonder.

He’s back – and he’s unstoppable. Gyles Brandreth just can’t stop talking. The jumper-loving This Morning star, who keeps popping up on Pointless, QI, Would I Lie To You?, Sunday Brunch, and The One Show, has been burbling and babbling since he was a baby, and in his hilarious new one-man show the award-winning raconteur (and holder of the world record for the longest-ever after-dinner speech – 12 and a half hours!) is trying to work out why. From 40 years on Radio 4’s Just A Minute to 4 years on Channel 4’s Celebrity Gogglebox, he can’t keep his mouth shut. He even talks in his sleep. What’s it all about? He’s going to tell you – because this is his life story: a roller-coaster of tales and revelations from his unlikely life in showbusiness and politics. There will be surprises too (for him and you) when the audience spins a wheel to decide what he’s going to talk about next. Don’t miss him – novelist, actor, ex-MP, podcaster, No 1 best-selling biographer, wordsmith and verbivore (he suffers from logorrhea – knows how to spell it and knows what it means) – he’s won the Audience Award for Most Popular Show on the Fringe, multiple 5-star reviews and every time...
Sunday 5/5: Launch of the next exhibition in our upstairs room, ‘Flow’ by @jamillerenegraves starts this Sunday at 4. Free entry.
Art formed this new band to showcase some of jazz’s lesser known gems from composers such as Thelonious Monk, bringing musicality to material that you wouldn’t normally hear. It reflects his desire for a fresh though accessible examination of this music and the additional firepower of compositions by Messrs Williams, Somogyi and Fishwick add further variety to the repertoire. The band’s stellar lineup includes pianist Gareth Williams, also a previous winner of the British jazz awards, and trumpeter Steve Fishwick, a member of Ronnie Scotts house band and teacher on the faculties of the Guildhall, Royal Academy, Leeds and Birmingham School music academies. Bassist Arnie Somogyi, also an academic teacher and member of the Ronnie Scott ensemble is a well known band leader and broadcaster in his own right. The charismatic drummer Winston Clifford is widely regarded as one of the finest percussionists in the UK and is the band’s secret weapon in the guise of an engaging vocalist. The band recorded a CD which was released early in 2017.
