England Lionesses will play their first home game in their bid to be crowned winners of the WU23 European competition when they welcome Portugal to the Sixfields Stadium, home of Northampton Town, on Monday 27 October (19:00 KO). Tickets for the first home fixture of the season, which is in the half-term week, can be purchased via this link, priced at £5 for adults, £3 for concessions and £1 for under-14s. The match will be Emma Coates’ side’s first outing in Northampton, but they will come up against familiar opposition in Portugal. The WU23s also played their first home fixture of the 2024/25 season against Portugal, when a strike from Michelle Agyemang sealed all three points in the European competition. The European competition was created to help bridge the gap between the end of the youth development pathway and senior international football. 10 nations take part, divided into two groups, with all teams travelling to Spain in April for a finals week. The top two teams from each group advance to the semi-finals, while the remaining sides play for their highest possible final placement. THE FLORA AND FAUNA OF STAINES MOOR by Robert Goble. The moor has been common land since 1065 and has remained unploughed and free of pesticides and fertiliser for 1000 years. It has been a SSSI since 1965. Robert, a member of the Staines Moor Preservation Society, is a frequent visitor to this site and will show us his images of the surprising amount of wildlife and wild flowers found on this site which is close to Heathrow, Staines & the M25. Saturday 1st November The Racecourse Entertainment from 4pm | Fireworks 6pm The countdown to Northampton's annual Fireworks Spectacular is on! This large-scale pyro-musical event attracts thousands of visitors every year. Entry is FREE, with entertainment for all the family. BBC Radio Northampton host the live stage entertainment from 4pm with local presenter Justin Dealey. Live party band Funk Odyssey get the party well and truly started at 4.30pm delivering a soulful journey through the golden era of Funk, Soul, and Disco with singalong favourites for a boogie to keep you warm!
