St George’s Day Celebrations, 25th April, Market Square

Northampton Museum And Art Gallery 4-6 Guildhall Rd,, Northampton, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom

Families are invited to join Northampton Town Council's St George's Day celebrations, with free children's activities, traditional Morris dancing and a brass band performance taking place at Northampton's Market Square on Saturday, 25th April from 11am - 2.30pm. Kids can meet St George and his giant, friendly dragon, take part in themed activities and workshops, enjoy face painting and colouring, or storytelling sessions on a Northampton Transport Heritage Red Bus. Finally, as part of the St George's Day celebrations, visitors can follow the Notable Northamptonians trail, to discover more about remarkable residents who have contributed to Northampton's cultural heritage from the past to the present day. Semilong Blooms by Jack Savage is a photographic portrait series documenting some of the people behind the Semilong Garden Project, a grassroots community initiative established by Louise Troy. Louise formed a community constitution of committed volunteers to transform the derelict space. The space was originally filled with litter and graffiti tarnished the walls. The series highlights some of the residents, volunteers, and families who helped bring this project to life, transforming a neglected strip of Northampton into a thriving space for creativity, connection, and community. Each portrait celebrates the individuals whose collective effort turned overlooked land into a place of pride, joy, and shared ownership.
