THE UNDERTONES EMERGED FROM DERRY, NORTHERN IRELAND IN 1976, THE RESULT OF FIVE FRIENDS LEARNING HOW TO PLAY BASIC ROCK AND ROLL. EVEN BY THE STANDARDS OF THAT DECADE, DERRY WAS NOT THE ROCK AND ROLL CAPITAL OF ANYWHERE AND WITH NO LIVE BANDS WORTH WATCHING, THEY LEARNED THEIR TRADE BY LISTENING TO MAIL ORDER RECORDS, READING ONE OF THE FEW COPIES OF NME THAT MADE IT TO DERRY BUT MOST OF ALL FROM LISTENING TO JOHN PEEL’S SHOW ON BBC RADIO ONE. PRACTICING IN THEIR BEDROOMS EVENTUALLY LED TO THE BAND RECORDING ‘TEENAGE KICKS’ IN 1978 ON TERRI HOOLEY’S GOOD VIBRATIONS LABEL IN BELFAST. In answer to overwhelming support, former members of John Coghlan’s Quo Mick Hughes, Rick Chase, Pete Mace and Russ Chadd have reformed under the name of QUO CONNECTION in order to begin the next chapter. JCQ had been in existence for twenty-five years in various forms, and their final gig with John Coghlan on the 24th of September 2022 was quite aptly played at Butlin’s in Minehead where the Quo story first began. The band wish John all the very best with his new projects. Playing many of Quo’s hits plus some incredible album tracks, Quo Connection are eager to bring their high-octane show to you!
