Objective 1: Promote and celebrate Northampton town centre and its businesses. To promote Northampton town centre, its business, cultural, leisure, educational and social offer locally and regionally.

Positive media headlines, a news-packed website and a year-round social media campaign have enabled us to boost the profile of Northampton town centre and the businesses based here. To keep our BID businesses up to date we also send out weekly e-newsletters and print quarterly newsletters.

Flying the flag for a safe and vibrant nighttime economy

We have worked closely with multiple partners, including West Northamptonshire Council and the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner to successfully retain the Purple Flag status for five years. Read more

Promotion & Advertising

Northampton BID continually works to raise the profile of the Northampton town centre locally, regionally and nationally.

The BID also issues press releases on a regular basis generating significant advertising coverage in the media.

We have regular headlines with Chronicle & Echo and a monthly column, multiple interviews with NLive Radio and BBC Radio Northampton, mentions on ITV Anglia’s, features on ITV Anglia News and BBC Look East plus plenty of articles in a variety of local print and online media.

The BID website has a Business Directory, an Events Calendar, with details of events happening in the town centre, plus, a weekly What’s On Guide is sent out to those signed up to receive this.

We also promote business news and offers using our Shop Local Showcase.

High levels of engagement across all of the BID’s social media platforms.

Supporting national and local campaigns such as Small Business Saturday and Town Centre Tenners.

Previous targeted campaigns have included:

  • Independent Retailers Month
  • Purple Flag – to promote night-time businesses
  • Small Business Saturday – featuring businesses in a social media campaign designed to encourage people to shop local
  • Food and Drink Directory– to throw the spotlight on our array of food and drink businesses via our printed directory, printed and distributed to 5,000 people and promoted to university students.
