Big Battlefield Walk Weekends – The Battle of Northampton

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Register of Historic Battlefields in England the Battlefields Trust and its partner organisations are arranging a series of battlefield walks in September 2025 to coincide with Heritage Open Days. Join the Nothamptonshire Battlefields Society for a walk across the field of this important Wars of the Roses battle, which saw the Lancastrians defeated and King Henry VI captured by the Yorkists. Enjoy a day our for all the family with vintage, classic and specialist cars in the grounds of the historic Abbey. Sun 7th September, 11am-4pm Entry Ł2 per person, pre-book here Under 3s free If you would like to exhibit your classic car on the day then we’re offering Early Bird pitches for Ł10 here (usual price Ł12.50 – available until 30th April 2025). Enjoy a day out for all the family with vintage, classic and specialist cars in the grounds of the historic Abbey. Alongside this the historic house will be open so that you can find out more about the Abbey’s exciting and turbulent 900 years of history in more detail (entry fee applies).

Community Open Day – Delapre Abbey

Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service, along with the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, Danielle Stone and partners, are inviting you to join us at one of our Community Open Days this July! Come along and meet your local emergency service personnel as they demonstrate what they do on a daily basis to keep the community safe. Climb onboard our Joint Command Unit, get an up close look at the police operational kit, and see some of our police dogs in action - with a chance to meet PD Socks and PD Bonnie! Whether you're interested in joining the emergency services or just want to find out more about what we do, there's something for everyone at our Community Open Days, so come along to your closest event. We are holding two open days, one in the north of the county and one in the west: Saturday, July 19, 2025, 11am to 4pm - Wicksteed ParkSunday, July 27, 2025, 11am to 4pm - Delapre Abbey Further information will be announced closer to the time. Please note, some displays will be subject to operational demand on the day.

Doors open 2pm with the films starting promptly at 2.20pm. Your ticket comes with a glass of wine, a bottle of beer or soft drink. The Orangery cafe will also be open for additional refreshments. Local Director Antonella Spirito and Producer Barnaby Spikings of 'The House That Stood' will be with us for a Q&A after the screening so have your questions ready!

Films to make you smile! What better for a Sunday morning than just over an hour of joy and jokes. Oh, and of course drains. Animation, drama and documentary. Doors 11.30am, films 12pm. Please arrive in good time before 12pm if you're getting a coffee. There will also be a chance to discuss the films after the screening. The cafe will also be open throughout. There will be a selection of cakes to choose from and instead of coffee you can have a tea or juice box if you prefer. This film has a 12A certificate
