Cake and Debate – Hosted by the West Northamptonshire Youth Council West Northamptonshire Youth Advisory Council are delighted to invite your students and young people to join us for Cake and Debate, an exciting and interactive event hosted by the West Northamptonshire Youth Advisory Council, alongside members of the UK Youth Parliament and Youth Council UK, all of whom are elected representatives for young people across West Northamptonshire. ? Date: Monday 24th November ? Time: 4:30pm – 6:30pm ? Venue: The Guildhall, Northampton ?? Free Event – Limited Spaces Available! Celebrate the unsung heroes of our community at the West Northamptonshire Male Role Model Awards 2025! Join us on Wednesday 19 November at The Guildhall in Northampton for the West Northamptonshire Male Role Model Awards 2025 - a celebration of the men and boys who go above and beyond to make a difference in their communities. Held in honour of International Men’s Day, this event recognises the men in West Northamptonshire who inspire others through their hard work and dedication. Finalists will be celebrated in a special ceremony in The Great Hall, with guest speakers, live music, and inspiring stories. The event will also feature a wellbeing marketplace in the Court Room from 4.30pm, where members of the public can drop in to meet local organisations offering support and advice for men and boys. Stallholders include Action4Happiness, SENDS4Dads, Recovery College NHFT, Andy’s Man Club, Cruse Bereavement Support, and more. Come along to celebrate positive local stories and help us raise awareness of men’s wellbeing. We look forward to seeing you there!

History of the Great Fire

Commemoration of the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of Northampton with storyboards, actors and a virtual reality app plus walking tour. Also learn about civic history with the mayor in the heart of the civic building- The Guildhall. The ‘History of the Great Fire’ event will take place at the Guildhall on Saturday, 13th September between 11am – 3pm, as part of West Northamptonshire Council’s Heritage Open Days. This year marks the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of Northampton, so the event is set to have a fire-theme, with actors from the ‘Mystery Tours’ bringing moments from the fire to life, staged in different rooms within the grand Victorian building, including the Great Hall and the original Court Room. Visitors can view a special exhibition about the Great Fire and learn more about the fateful day that resulted in 750 of the town’s 800 buildings being burnt to the ground, along with visiting the Mayor’s Parlour to learn about the town’s civic history. We meet in the Spencer Percival foyer of the Guildhall. This is the entrance to the old part of the Guildhall by the public toilets and statue of Spencer Percival. Tour includes the Mayor's Shelid Gallery, the old Town Hall keepers living quarters and the basement cells.
