Stir-up Sunday at Northampton Museum & Art Gallery

Stir-up Sunday: Christmas puddings and desserts with Carmela

Northampton Museum and Art Gallery was set to open this June, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the opening is now postponed until late 2020 or early 2021. Despite this set back the team have been busy organising a range of online events and workshops for the local community and the next one – Stir-up Sunday will take place on Sunday 22 November from 10 – 12.30pm.

Led by well-known local Italian cook and author Carmela Sereno Hayes – you will be guided through her most loved British Christmas pudding recipe with an Italian twist.

Carmela will also demonstrate how to make pistachio and cranberry biscotti, Marsala soaked polenta and clementine biscotti, pear and lemon tiramisu, and orange boiled cake with mascarpone cream.

If you buy the optional recipe pack, you will be provided with all the ingredients required to make the pudding, and will need only a few kitchen tools to take part. Also included in the optional recipe pack will be samples of the two biscotti and the orange boiled cake (without the mascarpone cream) for you to enjoy at home.

To be able to access the talk you will need to use Zoom from your smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC. The talk will be a private Zoom meeting and joining details will be sent after a ticket has been purchased. You will be able to join the call using video or audio only if you would prefer not to appear on screen.

Utensils you will need at home include: two mixing bowls, chopping board, knife, grater, wooden spoon, spatula, teaspoon, kitchen scissors, apple corer (optional), two-pint pudding basin and a special coin to insert into the Christmas pudding, ideally boiled and cleaned with cola.
