THE ICE AGE IN THE ENGLISH MIDLANDS. Don Munn will pick up on recent developments in the understanding of the effect of the Quaternary glaciation ice age in the Midlands.

MONOPOD COMPETITION The last meeting of our programme is our annual set subject competition depicting religious subjects from any faith. A competition held in honour of Mrs Humfrey’s interest in church photography. Up to three entries per person, any mix of prints or projected images. Trophy Presentations. The evening concludes with the presentation of the annual trophies.

HISTORIC LANDSCAPE AND RURAL IMAGES. The society has in its collections a number of photographic albums dating back from the creation of the society in 1876. This is a selection of those images, featuring landscapes, vistas and buildings from around England.

TELESCOPIC TOPICS A meeting comprising member contributions on various astronomy themes. Your chance to show the section observations you have made, equipment you are using or anything else that has interested you enough to share it with the section. If you have a special interest and would like to participate as a speaker please let the secretary know beforehand. Guests are very welcome.

RUSTS by Ian Wilson. Rusts are one of a number of types of micro-fungi which infect various plants. They have curious life-cycles and can be found easily all over the place. So we should be able to find some material with some spores to mount and examine. I guarantee that on your next county-side walk you will be spotting rusts on leaves along the paths.

BOLIVIA by Seán Karley. The South American country of Bolivia is often overlooked. Seán tours the country looking at the architectural, geological, historic, cultural and botanical highlights in this illustrated talk.

Including sales, exhibits, talks. This is an opportunity to meet with fellow microscopists and enthusiasts from around the country and also to see what’s on offer in the way of sales items. Why not bring along an exhibit of your own? Sales and exhibits in the morning and lectures in the afternoon. Guests are very welcome, just turn up, free entry.
