RUSTS by Ian Wilson. Rusts are one of a number of types of micro-fungi which infect various plants. They have curious life-cycles and can be found easily all over the place. So we should be able to find some material with some spores to mount and examine. I guarantee that on your next county-side walk you will be spotting rusts on leaves along the paths.

BOLIVIA by Seán Karley. The South American country of Bolivia is often overlooked. Seán tours the country looking at the architectural, geological, historic, cultural and botanical highlights in this illustrated talk.

Including sales, exhibits, talks. This is an opportunity to meet with fellow microscopists and enthusiasts from around the country and also to see what’s on offer in the way of sales items. Why not bring along an exhibit of your own? Sales and exhibits in the morning and lectures in the afternoon. Guests are very welcome, just turn up, free entry.

EXPLORING THE SOCIETY'S COLLECTIONS. The society has important collections including butterflies, shells, eggs, sands, microscope slides, rocks, minerals and Northamptonshire fossils. This is a great opportunity to look at our extensive collections, to draw, study them or just appreciate their beauty. Also, if you wish to assist us conserving or documenting you would be welcome.

IMPROMPTU PHOTOGRAPHIC NIGHTS. Come along with your camera gear. Subject to be agreed on the night and may be Post Processing (Photoshop), Still Life, Studio Flash, AV, or anything else you would like to cover. Guests are very welcome to join us where we will gladly assist with photographic queries.

THE NNHS GLASS SLIDES. We will continue our fascinating tour through the glass slides taken by society members on trips and walks etc in the first quarter of the last century.

EXOPLANETS by Rodney Buckland from the Open University. An exoplanet is any planet beyond our solar system. Most of them orbit other stars, but some free-floating exoplanets, called rogue planets, are untethered to any star. We’ve confirmed more than 5,800 exoplanets out of the billions that we believe exist. Guests are very welcome.

SPECIALISED INSECT BODY PARTS - SESSION 2 by Kevin Rowley. Kevin will be showing us other marvels of evolution within the insect kingdom using specimens, fresh samples and slides from the society’s collection.

BUILDING STONES WALK : THE GEOLOGY OF NORTHAMPTON’S MARKET SQUARE. Bob Purser will lead a walk around the historic square. We will find the oldest and the youngest rocks, lots of varieties of Mid-Jurassic geology, identify some fossils and depositional structures and a some examples of exotic rocks. We will meet at the Humfrey Rooms and finish with a cup of tea.
