Nigel Kennedy: A Virtuoso Concert Performance
Nigel Kennedy, one of the most distinctive and influential violinists of his generation, returns home to the UK with Virtuoso, his first major national tour in over fifteen years. Renowned for his uncompromising artistry and singular style, Kennedy has performed at the world’s leading concert halls, from Carnegie Hall to the Sydney Opera House. This tour offers a rare opportunity to experience his work live in performance at Royal & Derngate. The programme brings together classical repertoire with jazz and contemporary influences. It includes Bach, Kennedy’s own interpretation of A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, and original compositions, including a tribute to his mentors Yehudi Menuhin and Stéphane Grappelli. He is joined by long-time collaborators Alec Dankworth on bass and Peter Adams on cello, forming an exceptional ensemble of musical sensitivity and precision. Kennedy’s landmark recording of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons established him as a defining figure in modern classical music. His performances continue to be marked by technical brilliance and emotional depth. An opportunity to experience one of the great violinists of our time, a true virtuoso. “One of the most important violinists Britain has ever produced” – The Guardian

Theatretrain presents Best Day of My Life
A cavalcade of hits from 1960 to 2019. The 350 performers are split into two groups, with half making up a big choir and the other half telling their story through dance and acting. In the interval, they swap over so all the performers sing, dance and act. Each decade has its own stories, objects, pictures, films, fashion and of course music. As the evening continues, each decade fits into the next. It’s like seeing your life flash before you as you make connections with the past, greet songs as old friends and relive memories. What was the best day of your life? Theatretrain specialises in creating large-scale productions with young people. For over 30 years, they have performed in theatres throughout the country and particularly the West End, including: The London Palladium, The Theatre Royal Drury Lane, The O2 Arena and 14 times at the Royal Albert Hall. In all, they have given over 100 large-scale performances and introduced thousands of young people to the magic of live theatre.
