Contemporary Stitched Textiles The Bassett-Lowke Rooms Sat 8 Mar 2025 - Sun 25 May 2025 An exhibition of Contemporary Stitched Art Textiles We are delighted to be hosting this new exhibition of textiles and mixed media work which has been created by the Visualise textile group. Visualise was formed several years ago, by like-minded artists who enjoy creating diverse work with stitch as the common thread. The exhibition will also feature work by internationally known textile artist and Embroiderers Guild member Nigel Cheney who is the current mentor to Visualise. On display is a diverse array of abstract, realistic and figurative art using a wide variety of media: paper, fabric (new, distressed and recycled) and found objects which are hand and machine stitched, or felted to create art inspired by both the natural world and the built environment. The exhibition includes textile art inspired by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and 78 Derngate itself, with framed and small items for sale. Combining a look round the iconic Charles Rennie Mackintosh House before visiting the exhibition, gardens and shop, followed by partaking of some drink or food in The Dining Room is the perfect way to spend a glorious few hours in Northampton...

Northampton Museum & Art Gallery Saturday 29 March - Sunday 11 May 2025 Scientists have identified five periods of mass extinction over the geological record and the question is now being asked: are we in a sixth? This exhibition addresses this fascinating topic and journeys through the demise of the dinosaurs and marine reptiles, death of the ice age mammoths and the impact of humans on the dodo.

They take place every Friday lunchtime in the Northampton Museum & Art Gallery lower cafe area. Drop in no booking required but please purchase a drink or something to eat from the cafe.

Psychic Supper Friday 25th April 7pm to 10pm Join us and Make Contact We predicted this would be a popular event so Rosie, our resident psychic medium, is back this month, to pass on messages to a small group of people (16 max). Although we can’t guarantee that everybody will receive a message, you will come away with a wonderful warm feeling. There’s laughter and tears and a cocktail or two, if you fancy, and we will bring up a sharing platter for your group halfway through to nibble on. Tickets are £40 pp including a deposit of £10 pp at the time of booking. We cater for most dietary requirements but please advise us when you book. Final payment is required on the night.
