Bands in the Park 2025

125th Anniversary year Every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday from 6th April to 28th September 2 - 5pm   Enjoy live performances from local bands and musicians at the Abington Park Bandstand, every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday from April through to September.* Bring your own chairs, picnic blankets/rugs and relax within the picturesque surroundings of Abington Park. This year's performances start on 6th April and run through to 28th September. Please view the full 2025 schedule below. *There will be no Bands in the Park performance on 21st September, but you can enjoy the Rockin' Roadrunner Festival instead! Please note that performances may be shortened or cancelled in the case of inclement weather. Updates will be provided on our social media accounts when possible. 125th Anniversary Celebration Event - Saturday 17th May 11am - 4pm Marking 125 years of the bandstand in Abington Park with fun for all the family with activities, stalls and musical performances. Sunday 31 August 2025 | 2 pm–9 pm | Various Locations, Northampton NN Contemporary Art is thrilled to announce the return of NN Nights, a vibrant, town-wide celebration of arts and culture, taking place on Sunday, 31 August 2025. Following the success of last year’s event, this edition promises to be bigger and bolder, featuring over 50 artists presenting exhibitions, performances, and participatory projects across Northampton. NN Nights was devised in 2024 by NN Associates, a professional development programme initiated by NN Contemporary Art, aiming to foster creative skills and community in the town. This year's event, proudly built on the work established by NN Associates, now marks a significant fixture in Northampton’s cultural calendar. "We are excited to bring NN Nights back for another year of creativity, collaboration, and community engagement," said Richard Harrison, one of the event’s producers. "The event has grown significantly, and we can't wait to share the incredible talent and energy of our local artists with the community once again." The festivities will kick off with the Lightning Bolt Drawing World Championship by Northampton-based artist Bill Pollard at the Racecourse. Gladiators of Britain

Northampton Museum And Art Gallery 4-6 Guildhall Rd,, Northampton, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom

Explore the history of gladiatorial fights in Britain.   The events of the amphitheatre – its wild beasts and enslaved fighters – are one of the most enduring aspects of Roman culture that still capture the public imagination today. This touring exhibition brings together some of the country's most important objects to tell the story of Britain's entertainment venues and the people who died to the roar of the crowd. It will reveal the violence of the arena, and the importance of spectacle within Roman culture. Highlights include the Colchester Vase loaned by Colchester Museums, which records an actual battle between two real gladiators, and the Hawkedon Helmet, the only confirmed piece of gladiatorial armour from Roman Britain. These iconic loans will be supported by a selection of other items that reveal the popularity of gladiators throughout Roman society. This tour is in partnership with Colchester and Ipswich Museums and is inspired by the recent exhibition at Colchester Castle, Gladiators: A Day at the Roman Games which featured British Museum loans. It will explore Roman spectacle in the local region, following in the footsteps of the gladiators who fought in the amphitheatres of Britain.
