Bands in the Park 2025

125th Anniversary year Every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday from 6th April to 28th September 2 - 5pm   Enjoy live performances from local bands and musicians at the Abington Park Bandstand, every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday from April through to September.* Bring your own chairs, picnic blankets/rugs and relax within the picturesque surroundings of Abington Park. This year's performances start on 6th April and run through to 28th September. Please view the full 2025 schedule below. *There will be no Bands in the Park performance on 21st September, but you can enjoy the Rockin' Roadrunner Festival instead! Please note that performances may be shortened or cancelled in the case of inclement weather. Updates will be provided on our social media accounts when possible. 125th Anniversary Celebration Event - Saturday 17th May 11am - 4pm Marking 125 years of the bandstand in Abington Park with fun for all the family with activities, stalls and musical performances. Contemporary Stitched Textiles The Bassett-Lowke Rooms Sat 8 Mar 2025 - Sun 25 May 2025 An exhibition of Contemporary Stitched Art Textiles We are delighted to be hosting this new exhibition of textiles and mixed media work which has been created by the Visualise textile group. Visualise was formed several years ago, by like-minded artists who enjoy creating diverse work with stitch as the common thread. The exhibition will also feature work by internationally known textile artist and Embroiderers Guild member Nigel Cheney who is the current mentor to Visualise. On display is a diverse array of abstract, realistic and figurative art using a wide variety of media: paper, fabric (new, distressed and recycled) and found objects which are hand and machine stitched, or felted to create art inspired by both the natural world and the built environment. The exhibition includes textile art inspired by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and 78 Derngate itself, with framed and small items for sale. Combining a look round the iconic Charles Rennie Mackintosh House before visiting the exhibition, gardens and shop, followed by partaking of some drink or food in The Dining Room is the perfect way to spend a glorious few hours in Northampton...

Bounce and Rhyme at Northamptonshire Central Library

Sessions to introduce rhymes and songs to your child to encourage interaction and develop communication skills. Please note that the Bounce and Rhyme sessions will be run on a first-come, first-serve basis on the day and it will not be possible to book in advance. Parents and carers will be able to pick up a free ticket at the reception desk on Wednesday morning at 10 am. This event is for under 1s and non-walkers only.

Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox

Fresh from playing their 1,000th show, retro musical collective Postmodern Jukebox (PMJ) has announced the UK leg of their 2025, Magic & Moonlight World Tour. The group will headline the famed Royal Albert Hall in London before visiting Northampton in May. “If we’ve learned anything from ten years of touring the world, it’s that great music has the ability to transcend time and space in a way that is best described as ‘magic,” says Postmodern Jukebox creator and show director, Scott Bradlee. Concertgoers can expect to enter a parallel musical universe where modern-day earworms and iconic pop hits alike are reimagined in classic genres like 1920s jazz, Swing, Doo-wop and Motown, and brought to life by a cast of some of the world’s best singers, dancers, and instrumentalists. Think The Great Gatsby meets Sinatra at the Sands meets Back To The Future. The rare concert act that appeals across generations, older audience members will fall in love with the timeless sounds and nostalgic sensibilities, while younger fans will be thrilled by the fresh take on current pop culture and the sheer virtuosity of the performers on stage.
