Northampton Central Library Abington Street, Northampton, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom

We aim to bring people together to read, share stories and have fun. We use reading – whether books, magazines, newspapers, or anything else – to start everyone chatting. Our Reading Friends group meets on the 3rd Wednesday every month at Northampton Central Library to talk about reading and anything else that interests them. You don’t have to read anything before the session and everyone is welcome so come along, meet new people and share stories together. No booking is required and you don’t have to be a library member to take part.

The Science of ADHD: Navigating Neurodiversity in a Neurotypical World

The Guildhall St Giles' Square, Northampton, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom

A simple scroll through Instagram or TikTok and you’ll be left questioning: do I have ADHD? The rise in ADHD in adults is undeniable. But only over the last decade has ADHD been formally recognised in the UK. It has been suggested that about 1.5 million adults in the UK have ADHD but only 120,000 have been diagnosed. Waiting times to access an adult ADHD specialist clinic in the NHS can be up to 2 years or more. It’s hard to find support and help. From dopamine dips, hits and myths, how ADHD can present differently in women than men, and the neuroscience of neurodiversity; this talk is designed to give you an increased awareness and understanding of an ADHD brain. It will include advice and tips on how to navigate a neurotypical world as a neurodivergent person. This talk will also highlight how society is demanding change. People are increasingly recognising and accepting neurodiversity and self-defining as neurodivergent. Surely, it’s time for the world to alter neurotypical societal standards as they are fast becoming outdated. Doors open at 7pm, talk starts at 7.30pm - come down early to grab a good seat!

The Frogs

Royal and Derngate Theatre 19-21 Guildhall Road, Northampton, Northamptonshire, NN1 1DP

Spymonkey’s tragically funny attempt to pull off a classic Greek comedy Written by Carl Grose and Spymonkey, with massive apologies to Aristophanes Spymonkey’s Toby Park and Aitor Basauri are at the end of the road. The other Spymonkeys have taken themselves off to a better place, and they’re about to call it a day. To their rescue rides mega-rich philanthropist Patty Getty and her theatrically ambitious niece Jacoba with an offer they can’t refuse! But does this beleaguered comedy duo have what it takes to perform the classic Greek comedy The Frogs at Patty’s legendary amphitheatre in Hollywood? Shot through with Spymonkey’s uniquely surreal comedy, The Frogs is a delirious trip through Greek theatre, a monster-filled Underworld and classic vaudeville double acts but with existential angst, bronzed oiled torsos and a jumping chorus of tap-dancing frogs! What are you waiting for? Hop to it! A Royal & Derngate and Spymonkey co-production
