From the Collection: Women Artists
An exhibition of artworks from NMAG's collection celebrates the variety of genres, methods and media used by women artists, from the eighteenth to the twenty-first century. Northampton Museum & Art Gallery Saturday 11 November - Sunday 12 April 2026 Throughout history, both men and women have created art, yet only a select few have been remembered within Western art history. Art by men was historically valued more highly than art by women, reflecting broader beliefs that only men could possess artistic or creative genius. Certain genres and mediums were also considered more prestigious, while work made in the domestic sphere was dismissed as craft or decoration rather than recognised as fine art. Women were barred from studying nude figures a crucial part of classical art training until the late 1800s. Second-wave feminism in the twentieth century, and wider social changes in the twenty-first, have challenged these hierarchies. Today, women are at the forefront of artistic production, with artists such as Tracey Emin, Maggi Hambling, Rachel Whiteread and Jasleen Kaur recognised as leading voices in contemporary art.

Art and Comics Unwrapped: Exploring the Line Between Comics and Fine Art
This Exhibition explores the similarities between fine art and comics and how they are produced. It will explain the process of how comics are created and examine the common elements from fine art; the drawing, the painting and the poetry. It will also exhibit a story of epic proportions without superheroes, just ordinary people.

Iconic Easter Rabbit Trail
Complete a trail of town centre shops and track down 14 iconic rabbits on display in Northampton town centre this Easter. Participants will given a map of the town with 15 locations. You will need to visit each location, where you will find a wooden figure of a well-known rabbit from the world of film, TV or books. Each rabbit will be holding an Easter egg featuring a letter. You will need to find all 14 letters and unscramble them to come up with a popular Easter phrase. When you have completed the entry form by spelling out the phrase, you can exchange it for a chocolate treat from Market Square News. You will then be entered into a prize draw, with two winners each receiving a £50 voucher to spend in a town centre business of your choice. The trail starts on Saturday, 28 March and will end on Sunday, 12 April. For full details visit: http://www.discovernorthampton.co.uk/iconic-easter.../

Architectural Heads/Flower Heads
We are delighted to host two much-travelled contemporary artists, Piero Serra & Simington who will be displaying their work in the Barwell Room from Tuesday March 10 th to the end of May. With very different styles and techniques, the two friends chose to collaborate on this exhibition entitled ‘Architectural Heads/Flower Heads’. Serra, who trained as an architect, was born in Northampton. He shows us his extraordinary drawings which were partially inspired by architectural forms soon after he moved to Berlin, where he still lives. Serra who trained as an architect, was born in Northampton. Simington’s work shows us constructed composite images, which can be made up of multiple layers, to create worlds which take on a life of their own. Liam was born in Scotland, has lived in both Japan and Egypt and now resides in Northamptonshire. House and Galleries are open Tuesday to Sunday 10am – 4.30pm. A small entrance fee applies for visits to the heritage house but entry to all exhibitions is free.
Carboniferous Monsters: 100 million years before the Dinosaurs
Step back to the Carboniferous period, 100 million years before the dinosaurs. Northampton Museum & Art Gallery Saturday 21 February - Sunday 7 June 2026 Visit tropical forests and swamps teeming with bizarre and ferocious ancient monsters, some of which had larger teeth than T. rex. Meet the dinosaurs' distant ancestors, the very first reptiles, the largest creepy-crawlies ever to live, and prehistoric animals unlike anything you've ever seen before! A must-see for prehistoric monster fans of all ages!

A great option for parents, with babes in arms welcome, and a more informal atmosphere designed to help audiences feel comfortable. Relaxed performances are open to everyone. Three parties. One weekend. The invitations have been sent and there’s no going back…it’s Party Season! Xander is back in town, and this weekend he’s on parenting duty. The kids are in the ball pit; the Entertainer is blowing bubbles; the adults gobble Perelló olives and pretend to like each other. As ancient grudges rear their heads, the tension rises like a helium balloon. Caught between who he was and who he’s supposed to be, Xander must decide whether he’s going to grow up or just pass the parcel. From the multi-award-winning creators of Education, Education, Education and The Last Of The Pelican Daughters comes a sugar-fuelled, bobbin-winding fever dream where class identities collide, social niceties unravel, and underslept parents do their best to hold it all together. Mythos: Ragnarök
Famously dubbed the “maddest, baddest show” of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival by the Daily Mail, this groundbreaking cult-classic adaptation of ancient Norse mythology is finally touring the UK! Spend Easter Saturday with Thor, Loki, Freyja and the Norse Gods (all played by pro wrestlers!) as they try to put their differences aside to build a new world and avoid a prophecy of imending doom. Part hilarious ancient storytelling and part high-octane extravaganza, The Telegraph calls this unique theatrical experience “a knockout spectacle” and “the perfect way to tell this story”. Best of all, the Derngate’s unique 360 degree stage means you’ll be close to the action wherever you sit! One of the UK’s best examples of fierce independent theatre, Mythos: Ragnarök is written, produced and funded by the same actors who perform it. You don’t need to know or like anything about the subject matter to understand and adore the show, or appreciate the sheer passion and ability of the performers – doing something that has never, ever been done before in theatre. ★★★★★ “Sets the bar high for theatre as we know it” – Broadway Baby ★★★★★ “Pro wrestling’s natural evolution…it is masterful.” – One4Review ★★★★ “An exceptional show” – Broadway World Save...
